Kulim 23/24 July

Kulim.......................................

My hometown.

I used to remember that i travelled there EVERY holiday i had. Because my grandpa lived there.

That house could be part of myself, a place where i spent quite some part of my childhood; the place where i watched alot of rented TAPES; learnt cycling; fly kites ?!; bought and read every Dragonball Z comic; rode illegal motorbike; drove without a license...................etc etc

But ofcourse, time comes when we seldom go back since grandpa passed away and me myself studying in the good old london; hence I dont follow my family back to kulim during chinese new year.

But since i am back for summer, grandma forced all of us to go back together, hahahaha; I had to FFK some friend's birthday party because "Cabinet" at home overrode everything.

And so I was driving my uncle's 4X4 Harrier, *thought it was going to be a powerful 3 litre car compared to our own E240, but was totally WRONG* It was indeed 3000cc, but it was also a japan speced car, giving it the 180km/h restriction just like my trusty civic. But the civic was meant to give a tad more OOMPH being a Type RS but Big old Harrier was meant for the rocky roads. Yes, as expected, i managed to floor the car and only be contented with 180........ hahahaha

Anyway, the journey wasnt too bad, 3 hours we are in Penang, picking up dad and had probably 100 different hawker food *okla, maybe 10*. Must admit that Penang is still the land for CHAR KUEY TIAOW, HOKKIEN MEE & MUAR CHEE; My tounge had not had such orgasm for sometime.... heehee. Food was Fantabulous. Need to try it to understand.

After Penang, we visited some relatives and then head straight to Kulim. When we got there, we had more to eat again........................................ KARI MEE TA *dry*, Kon Low Mee, etc etc

We dint do much apart from EAT seriously, so we just kept eating until the next day and drove back; ofcourse visiting few more relatives in the mean time.

*oh me and brother learnt Russian Poker during the trip*

That was the title of the "musical" that I went with Nit and Vonne yesterday.

It started of as a typical NOTHING-TO-DO Sunday for me, somehow my list of contacts had already been used up by me during the past month =) *note that i am a typical CANNOT BE ALONE AND NOTHING TO DO kinda person* hence my QUOTAs of going out with friends had been severely overdrafted.

Hence.................................













Then Suddenly, a phone call came *but i think i called her actually* ...................................

puipuiface asked whether I want to join her and Nit for a Musical; honestly speaking, i was quite skeptical at the beginning, thinking that i came back from the land of broadway musicals - London, and how something in malaysia can beat that. But because i really had NOTHING to do and wanted some company, I decided to tag along. PLUS, Vonne and Nit actually agree to subsidise my ticket since both of them are getting complimentary tickets, i tell you la, where can you get girls like this nowadays ??????

tsk tsk tsk........ nvm, vonne is taken, but Nit still currently available, so for those interested, please call "1-300-I-want-nit" to get into the queue. *had to do my part promoting after letting her spend on my ticket =)*

Best of all, the venue was at Bangsar Shopping Complex, which in some ways contributed to my skeptism. And when we got there, the show was delayed due to Air-con failure *which was never fixed afterall*







*i felt that i was going into a big con/white-elephant/sure boring-like-shit-show ; together with two very hyped girls*











Until i realised the title of the show was Broadway AH BENG...............................

So the show started, a GOLD-haired AH BENG in the center of the stage, wearing a glossy-green jacket with purple shirt, speaking the AH BENG language---- Hokkien.

It was actually more of a stand up comedy than a full blast musical; although they did incorporate some dancings with 3 LIAN-gels *what a f**kin funky way to patrionise ah lians*

*xxx* would be the explanation in english from hokkien

Like ah BEEW said *the main character's name* , the CONCEPT si an ne kuan *is like this*; he was supposed to get a 72 piece orchestra, but negotiated to 72pcs orchestra IN ONE CD- MINUS ONE, hahahaha *means no live music*

The whole show was full of vulgar hokkien jokes and some CIPLAK *lousy* reconstruction of some famous musicals, ie : chicago, Miss Saigon, Singing in the Rain.......... ; But the main gist was still those exploding hokkien jokes, Si pe jia lat *extremely* funny.................. those jokes could be used as REFERENCE as well........ what to do in KTV ? what to bring to UK ? how to swim when you are FAT ? ah BEEW sang very well too; interwoven between the stupid jokes are some weird inclusions of songs and LIAN-gels doing damn funny dance moves, mocking the KO-TAI *singing stage* shows and 80's MTV dance moves.................

I never laughed that hard for a long time ady. In the end, i must say, it was worth every penny. To get that laughter and being whacked all the while by puipuiface.............. it's worth it; Nit found it funny as well although her hokkien was limited. I will always look forward for another hokkien show like this, it feels good somehow if thing were conversed in hokkien.

After WC2006

I did not realise the impact of world cup until recently.

For some reason, life seemed DULL, friends seemed to distant, the bond that brought that somehow brought everyone together just died, and would need another four years until it comes back.

Haha, note that this is not a typical Qz-self-mumbling-sad-post, i am just speaking up for thousands of people out there would actually feel the same. We cheered, Boo-ed, screamed, BETTED, all over the past one and a half months. Then all these suddenly stopped........

We cannot use the same excuse to ask friends to hang out at ridiculous hours, nor give the supervisor the REASONABLE excuse for being late for work =)
Ohh I miss the world cup season ~~

Life is back to where it was, not really exciting; guess i am really growing up ady, so much to consider before doing anything. I gotta treat life and work much more seriously nowadays, everything affects the future, doesnt it ?

ALOT of STUPID THINGS happened too ~~

just for starters,

1)we were spooked by the huge amount of jelly-fishes in the waters

2)we know that as long as you dont have a dick, you will faint once the car started moving

3)pui pui face dint get to bite the clouds =)

4)York air-conditionings are extremely efficient

5)Drinking games are too straight-forward but fun

6)Yumi can type an email with her phone, and is obsessed with GPRS

7)Jingwen can kill a man when a cat is around

8)Acting can be a stressful job, especially to get into the MOOD

9)we all had a great short burst of FUN

I totally forgotten to update something that happened to me last week !!!!
What a shame !

Ok, basically it is like this, as a student whom have just spent the past year abroad; eating only what can be found in London, like………..











And ofcourse the UNAVOIDABLE

Then while coming home, all the faint memories of LAKSA, CURRY MEE, HOKKIEN MEE, CHAR KUAY TIAO, NASI LEMAK, NASI KANDAR, LOK-LOK…………… etc etc were back to HAUNT me.

And comparing malaysian food against london's worst and most unhealthy junk food, you are still taking a Ferrari head to head in a drag race with a proton; HURRAY, OUR FOOD IS DIRTIER, WE WIN !!!!!!


So what happened next ?

and then ~~


*puked like the poor pumpkin and emptied himself

hence finally being diagnosed that i had

FOOD POISONING *severe*

Worst part was i was actually admitted into the hospital due to dehydration from all those puking and shitting, and had IV transfusion for half a day.......





Although i wasnt admitted overnight in the hospital, but i think pui pui face and Jing wen still owes me "get-well-soon" flowers each !!! HARHARHAR~~~ Horribly, both of them claimed that i looked perfectly healthy the second day and hence unwilling to treat their POOR SICK NICE friend at all.

Sobs sobs ~ all the extra miles to Selayang and Setapak for this kinda treatment ~~ tsk tsk tsk




BUT I AM VERY HEALTHY NOW ADY, SO NO WORRIES, I AM EATING AS USUAL
